She lives in a castle with her pet snake, red guitar, and socks that she never wears. She defeated a dragon, offered him tea once he apologized for being mean, and they became fast friends. She also befriended the local witch/evil queen, who forgot her poisoned apple, got a makeover, and rocked out the indie music. Our shero also squelches poor Prince Phillip during the bridge. And let's not forget her most legendary feat: She ate a whole cake.
Sound like a role model? She's certainly one of my favorite princesses.
Jonathan Coulton's song "The Princess Who Saved Herself" has been one I've loved for a while, and I thought some of you might appreciate it, so wanted to share it. Aside from being an awesome, empowering song (and the artist wrote it for his daughter, which is itself so sweet <3), TPWSH was also adapted into an awesome children's book (alas, I haven't been able to get my hands on a physical copy), starring Princess Gloria Cheng Epstein Takahara de la Garza Champion. The song, and the book, rocks. No, literally. The characters get a band going.
