  • I just use a light flow tampon (Sometimes others hurt because my flow isn't very heavy and they don't get full) and then the water will seep in and you may not know it's even there. Other times not so much, if you have a very light flow and are going swimming you may not even need to wear one. Hope this helps, I'm still not entirely into tampons either and sometimes they freak me out too, your not alone ;)
  • There are also some swimsuits that are made for when you have your period. I haven't tried them myself, I just stick with tampons. If you choose to use tampons start of with Tampax teens or natural cotton tampons such as O.B. in size regular. The more natural they are the smaller chance of any irritation. As long as you take it out within about five hours you should be fine. Hope this helps!
  • I 100% understand being afraid to use a menstrual product that goes *inside* of you. It honestly sounds really scary, but once you try it, it's not so bad! I've been getting my period for about three years now, and have been steadily using a cup (which goes inside of you) for a year now. It was really hard to figure out how to use it, and to get comfortable with it and the idea of something being inside of me. But you get used to it, and it make things (like swimming!) a lot easier, and I now love it. If you don't want to use tampons, you could always try a menstrual cup! Of course, you'd still have to be okay with putting something inside you, but for swimming something inside is the best option. A menstrual cup has very low risk of TSS, and is environmentally friendly, and easy to use once you get the hang of it.If you have any questions about anything, you can always PM me. I'm happy to help. :)
    • I'm more worried about not being able to get it out o_o
      • The only way there is another space big enough is during childbirth. If the string or the little stick thing goes inside too then you just very carefully reach up and pull it out.
      • Totally understandable! I was worried about the same thing, but...there's honestly not anywhere for it to go. Like, it literally can only go so far in. So you'll be able to get it out.

Dealing with Scary Thoughts

Okay i am feeling a bit scared about Dying I never really thought about till my eleventh birthday And i really need some advice – Anonymous      This is a really big, serious topic, but I want to try to tackle it because I know I would have appreciated it when I was younger. As a younger child, I’d sometimes have trouble falling asleep, and with all that empty time for my mind to wander, I always found it drifting towards death. Before I give any advice, I just want to say that I’m really…

Sleeping Over at a Friend's House

When I get invited to sleepover parties, I always end up wanting to go home before bed. Now that I am a rising 8th grader, I am starting to worry that my friends may find it babyish that I can't spend the night. Any advice? -Anonymous      I’ve had experience with this same problem before! When I used to often have sleepovers with my friends, I’d nearly always call my mom to pick me up when it came time to go to sleep.
