Sexist Lego Set

So I love legos. One time when I was shopping I found this:

Sorry that its upside down. Anyway, I find this set annoying! It is sending the classic message: The men save the helpess woman. UGH!!!!

  • Why could they do that? I saw this too and it was horrible!
  • DRAT! I am SOOOOOOO SICK of the damsel in distress stuff!
  • OMG. If you have played Super Mario (I love Super Mario) Princess Peach is a princess and captured by this dinosaur (I guess it's a dinosaur?) Named Bowser and it annoys me everytime because she's always like: Mario! Help me! It's so annoying! And that kind of thing needs to stop
    • Ugh. I kinda hate that. I also hate that they don't get another girl to rescue Peach (or even Mario, or maybe both) like Daisy and Rosalina (both never get kidnapped). STOP IT!!
PS: I like Super Mario too.
PSS: I don't like that in Odyssey that you HAVE to be Mario, not Peach or a new character or someone.
PSSS: Bowser is probably a turtle, or a combination of a turtle and dinosaur.
    • I'm pretty sure Bowser is some spiky turtle-thing even though I've never played the game.
  • UGH! I really don't like it when toy companies, and society, make it seem like women are weaker than men!
  • That’s annoying:/ but for this set personally I feel that since it is Batman it’s not that bad because it follows the story line of the movie. And yes superhero’s can be sexist but I don’t think it is as bad as just a LEGO set with no story
    • I see what you are saying, but personally I feel that even if it does follow a story-line, it could still be sexist.
      • Yeah but its Batman if it was superwomen then she would be saving someone as well (hopefully). It would be super sexist if it didn’t have a plot and it was just a man saving a women.
  • I personal interpret this as teamwork, but I see what you mean.

Mood Swings

I have been having a lot of mood swings lately. What are good coping mechanisms for mood swings and what can I do to help me prevent them and just get through them? - Dragonlily   Hi Dragonlily, Gosh, do I relate to this. Mood swings can be rough, and unfortunately, I know that all too well from personal experience. As it happens, I actually wrote a blog post on this exact topic last year! In that article, I included some suggestions and ideas for coping with/getting through mood swings, so it…

Coming Out

“I feel scared to come out at school. If I came out as gender fluid, no one would touch me with a ten foot stick. but I don't want to be hidden any longer. the teachers would accept me, but I don't want to be stuck a whole year with no friends. thanks for listening!”   Anonymous     I hear you--coming out can be really scary, especially if you suspect the people you’re considering coming out to won’t accept you. Here’s an idea that may help: you don’t have to come out to everyone to come out.…

Stretch Marks

"Do stretch marks go away with time? Is there anything you can do to get them to lighten?" - Anonymous Hi!   Firstly, a disclaimer: I don't actually have much personally informed knowledge/experience regarding stretch marks—that's not necessarily to say that I haven't had any, but they've simply never bothered me much, so I haven't really paid much attention xD). That said, it's a good question, and it deserves an answer, so after some research, here's what I've gathered. Stretch marks (as you…

Worried About a Parent's Mental Health

“My dad has this obsession with cleaning, and It has gotten to the point where it has affected family life, and cleaning is the first thing he thinks of when he comes home. I am trying to help him, but every time I broach the subject, he changes the subject to "me helping him with cleaning". He won't admit he has anxiety and perfectionism. He says no to a therapist and he won't let me help him, so I don't know what to do. I'm worried that he is making himself really unhappy.” -Kate Oh man I’m…
