School help??

I have been homeschooled for pretty much my entire life. (I went to preschool and didn't like it.) On September 2nd, I will be going to a private school. I have toured the building and talked to the head of the school already. Some days I think I've made the right decision, but other days I feel as if I'm making a terrible mistake! I'm really nervous about it. Can you tell me about what it's like going to school? Note:  They call the school an "international peace academy." Don't think bullying will be a problem. :)

  • UPDATE: Today was my first day. It was great! I had no trouble talking to people and pretty much the whole day was dedicated to "getting to know you" games (which honestly did get a bit tedious after a while). No work, no homework. I like it. Thank you all for giving me this great advice!! :)
    • You are very welcome, and I'm glad you like your new school so much!! If you ever need advice again, please feel free to ask:)
    • Hey Julia! I'm so glad you like your new school. I think you entirely made the right decision. I hope you have a great school year! :)
  • I go to a private, all girls, STEAM based middle school, and I have found it to be one of the most enjoyable experiences, if not the most enjoyable, school experience I have ever had. Everyone is so nice and accepting, and I'm sure they will be at your school too! I'm sure you'll have a great time while you go there! Good luck! ;D

Everyone already mentioned some good advice on adjusting to the new environment, but I will add that if the workload gets stressful at first; prioritizing is your friend. List out all the assignments you have to do and when their due and how important they are to your grade/learning. Then decide which ones are more important overall to work on first and go down the list from what you think is the next important, etc. Chances are you might not get to everything, and sacrificing some lesser assignments that don't matter in the long run is better than suffering on everything (and/or on the big stuff). It'll save you time and sanity when stuff gets overwhelming, and help you do your very best :D None the less, good luck at the new school! We believe in you!!
  • School is basically a lot of children with different personalities and different upbringings ready to learn. They will always be someone you dont think are nice but there is nothing to worry about. Youll soon make friends and settle in. I hope everything goes great!

  • I think it will be a great experience. My advice to you is to do your best, be friendly, and don't be afraid to try new things. Also, if it is overwhelming or difficult at first, just tell yourself that it will get easier and better.

Tampons

“I would really like to be able to use tampons and other internal use period things. It would make life so much easier for me. But I've never tried them before, and I'm a little nervous. I mean, I seems kind of weird and scary to stick something up inside you like that. Do you have any tips or advice for me?”  -- Anonymous When I first wanted to try tampons, I felt similarly to you. The very first time I tried to put one in, I couldn’t even figure it out! Eventually, though, I tried again, and…

New Beginnings

It’s the beginning of the school year, a time of year when many of you are probably starting something new, whether at a new school, a new grade, new classes, new activities, or meeting new people. Even some things which you’ve done in the past – for instance, a band you were in, or a club – are likely restarting for the school year. In addition, coming up on the Jewish calendar is Rosh Hashanah, which marks the beginning of Jewish new year. So I thought this would be a good time to discuss new…

Working With A Difficult Person

"There is a girl in my class that I really don't like. My teacher tells us who to sit next to in class and she told me to sit with this girl. For example: I would getting on with my work and she would start to hum then I would say: "please can you stop", but she would start drawing on our desk or something. I would ask again but still drawing. I tell my teacher and she said if it starts again I should tell her. I start walking back and the girl would move as far away from me as she can . I'd…

Teachers

Hi everyone! A lot of you, like me, are probably back in school by now. Since the school year is starting, I wanted to share some advice about teachers. Most of my teachers have been kind and wanted me to succeed in their classes. However, one of my high school teachers was the kind of teacher that my classmates were terrified of. Several of my friends, and even the school counselor, warned me that it was extremely difficult to get a good grade in the class. Although their warnings made me…
