This is a discussion about riddles. Basically someone lists off a bunch of riddles, and then other people try to figure them out. You can post as many riddles as you want to, and you can try to answer as many as you want to. I heard some of these riddles on NM, so I don't know if people made them up or not. Anyway, they're all pretty good ones! Here are some riddles to start with:

1. If you feed me, I grow. If you give me water, I die. What am I?

2. The red person lives in the red house, the blue person lives in the blue house, the yellow person lives in the yellow house, but who lives in the white house?

3. There is a glass house, but there is a rule that only certain people can go in. You have to figure out the rule. Annie can go in, Bob can not. Brayden can go in, Joe can not, Alice can go in, Rose can not. What is the rule?

4. Two guys walked into a bar. They both ordered root beer and they both got ice. One of them was rude and drank all of his root beer very fast. The other guy was polite, and took small sips, it took him FOREVER to finish his drink. The polite dude fell on the floor dead, and the other was perfectly fine. Why did one person fall down dead?

  • I know the answer to number 1: fire. 2: The President
  • 1. So, there was a man who lived in a flat, and on a rainy day, or with his friend, he would go all the way up to the 14th floor, where he lived. But, on a sunny or without his friend, he would just go to the 9th floor and walk the rest of the way! WHY?

    2. Name an 8 letter word that has "kst" in the middle, in the beginning, and in the end.

    3. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?

    4. When does Christmas come before Thanksgiving?

    5. A boy was at a carnival and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, "If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $50, but if I cannot, I will pay you $50." The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he'll just say he weighs more or less. In the end the boy ended up paying the man $50. How did the man win the bet?

    6. What has many keys, but can't even open a single door?

    7. A man rode out of town on Sunday, he stayed a whole night at a hotel and rode back to town the next day on Sunday. How is this possible?

    8. What belongs to you, but other people use it more than you?
    • If number 2 is inkstand, I don’t get it :(

Yeah, it took me a minute even after I saw the answer. xD
I think the idea is to read the question from a different angle—the middle of the eight-letter word in question is supposed to be made up by the letters "kst", the beginning is made up by the letters "in", and the end is made up by the letters "and". So: in_kst_and.

Does that make any sense? :P
        • Oh! Yeah I kinda get in now! :P

      1. He was too short to reach the buttons for the floors above 9? (His friend was taller—and if it's rainy, he could use his umbrella? xD)
      2. Hmm...
      3. יום רישון, יום שני, יום שלישי (Yes, I know that's not the answer you were going for, but I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. Those are the names for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday in Hebrew. xD)
      4. Every single Christmas.
      5. The man wrote the words "your exact weight" on the piece of paper?
      6. A piano!
      7. His horse was named Sunday.
      8. Your name?
      • 1. Yes!
        2. Do you want me to tell you?
        3. Do you want me to tell you?
        4. Not quite...
        5. Yes!
        6. Yes!
        7. Yes!
        8. Yes!
        • Mod S2S Mentor
          2. Well, I actually saw the answer on another Riddle discussions here, so... I guess it's inkstand? I didn't figure it out myself, but clever! xD
          3. Hmm... maybe give someone else a chance first? Up to you, though. I'll keep thinking. :P
          4. Really? But every single Christmas, Thanksgiving will come afterwards (albeit next year)... ah, well. Maybe if the names are alphabetized—is that the answer you're going for?
          • 4: yes!
          • Mod S2S Mentor
(Wait, I think I've actually heard #3 before! Is the answer you had in mind Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow? :0)

Letting Go Of The Past

I sometimes have trouble letting go of things that I regret. I'll spend days just worrying over what I should have done better. How can I let go of the past and move forward? - Anonymous   Oh goodness, I can relate to this so much that it’s almost painful. The past—especially the parts of the past that we regret—does have a way of overstaying its welcome in our minds; I think it’s a somewhat universal difficulty, or at least one that many of us (including me) struggle with. The good news is…

When Friends Are Ignoring You

“At school, I feel like my friends are ignoring me, and don’t really want to be with me. Sometimes I don’t want to hangout with them because all they talk about is boys and crushes. So I feel like feeling left out and alone makes me a hypocrite, because stuff like that doesn’t interest me. But when I think about it, I think that all my friends have more friends they’d rather be with than me. Sorry if this is tedious. Any advice?” -Anonymous Gosh, I know almost exactly you feel. Especially with…

Crush Clarification

“Things have been weird between my crush and I. A few weeks ago, I left an anonymous note in his locker saying that I liked him, and he figured out it was me. We are still friends, but the note thing doesn't have any sort of conclusion! I want to do more, but I need a definite answer to the note.” -Anonymous Well if you want a definite answer, the best thing would be to ask him! Communication is vital in any relationship, and is really good for clearing up ambiguity. If you can, I would catch…

Talking About Tampons/Swimming On Your Period

So, I'm going to camp this summer, which is cool, but I'll be there at the time when I tend to have my period, and I don't want to miss out on swimming with everybody. The problem: I don't wear tampons, and my mom isn't that fond of them. But I might want to bring some to camp, just so I can swim and do all the athletic activities. How do I talk about this with my mom??? - Anonymous   Hi! That does sound like some slightly unfortunate timing. The good news, though, is that doesn’t need to…
