  • Song name: Fire Under My Feet
    Artist: Leona Lewis
    Album: ???
    Genre: Pop
    Swear words/mature topics: None
This song is great because it talks about how strong you can be and it's very encouraging.
  • Song Name: Broken Glass

    Artist: Rachel Platten

    Album: (optional)

Genre: (Pop, country, etc) I don't know

What you like about the song/a general explanation of it: I really like the rhythm of the song, and my friend Artemis told me the song is about feminism, which I think is awesome.

Are there any swear words or mature topics mentioned in the song? If so, how "bad" do you think it is? No

    Other:
  • Song Name: Never Let Me Go

    Artist: Florence + the Machine

    Album: (optional) Ceremonials

Genre: (Pop, country, etc) Pop, alternative/indie

What you like about the song/a general explanation of it: It describes someone drowning themselves in the ocean. What I like best about this song is the melody, it’s so pretty.

Are there any swear words or mature topics mentioned in the song? If so, how "bad" do you think it is?: No swearing, but its main topic is suicide, so only listen to it if you’re okay with that.

Other: Another song with basically the same theme as this one is What The Water Gave Me, where the reason she drowns herself is explained a bit more.
  • Song Name: Welcome to the Black Parade

    Artist: My Chemical Romance

    Album: The Black Parade

    Genre: Rock, I guess.

What you like about the song/a general explanation of it: honestly everything about this song is amazing. It’s so anthemic and uplifting, it poignantly and engrossingly tells a story, it has a lot of different layers to it and the song has several sections that are unique, every part of it is really well done. It’s a classic, it’s iconic, i have so many fond memories of singing it on NM sing-alongs before the great deletion. I just love every single thing about it and the album in general, it is truly a treasure. If you like rock/“alternative” music you will like it.

Are there any swear words or mature topics mentioned in the song? If so, how "bad" do you think it is?: There is one swear but it isn’t bad. The only mature topics mentioned are death and darkness, if you’re uncomfortable with that being illustrated I would say proceed with caution.

Other: this is a really cool board that i will absolutely be spamming! If you like this song I would definitely recommend the rest of the album because it is pure and precious gold that I cannot praise highly enough. It’s a really interesting and creative album following the story of a cancer patient and his life before and after he contracted the disease, and it has really cool music videos to go along with it that I love. Other great songs from the album are Famous Last Words, Sleep, Disenchanted, Dead!, Mama, and How I Disappear, but this is a really good one to get started with.
    • @Other: ^^^ to the first sentence, this is indeed a great board which I shall be spamming a lot >:)

Preparing For Your Period

“I feel very unprepared about getting my first period. I don’t know exactly what happens and I am really worried about getting it at school. I wouldn’t want to talk to anyone about it and I don’t feel comfortable talking to my mom about it ahead of time either. Would I be able to just use a wad of toilet paper instead of a pad for a day until I get home and can ask my mom for one? Where would I keep pads after I did get my period if I had it at school? I just feel uninformed and unprepared and…

Redesigning Characters

"Do you have any advice on redesigning characters? I have an old one I want to polish up and I'm not sure how to go about it." -Willa While I don’t have a lot of experience redesigning characters visually, I have a bit more experience with reworking characters that I’ve created in pieces of writing. After thinking about your question a little, I think that both crafts tend to come down to the same core pieces, so hopefully my advice will help you out whether you’re looking to work on visual…

Too Much To Do

“Yesterday I felt overwhelmed because I had more to do than I was used to (Lots of homework, after school activities and dinner). Do you have any tips for girls to feel less overwhelmed when they have a lot to do?”  - Anonymous Feeling overwhelmed by long to-do lists is a very common experience, especially as we get older and start taking on more responsibilities and commitments, have more time-consuming homework, etc.—so you are far from alone in this. (It’s certainly something I’ve had to…

Not a People Person

"Okay i am going to very very clear...I need advice from someone older than me. I am not very much a people person like I don't talk much around other people how would you say I deal with this?" - Anonymous Hi! I’m not very much of a “people person” myself, and am generally very shy and quiet in social settings, so I definitely understand this. As I know firsthand, it can be hard being less socially inclined than those around us… but I’m actually going to start by suggesting that, contrary to…
