Attention, girls of the world: What does it mean to be a girl where you live?
Reflect on a moment in your life where you thought “THIS is what it means to be a girl where I live!” It could be a time when you or girls you know overcame an obstacle, shared a moment of connection, stood up for yourself, a life turning point, an act of bravery, or an adventure with friends! You can use creative writing, video recording, performance, photography, artwork, or song to share your ideas.
Your submission could be selected to be shared during the Girls Speak Out 2019 at the United Nations in New York City! And every girl under age 18 who submits her work will get a special shout out online from the IDG Summit.
Click here (or go to the website: dayofthegirlsummit.org/home/girls-speak-out-2018/girls-speak-out/day-11-day-of-the-girl/) to download more detailed information on this celebration, submission requirements, and how to submit your work. And when you send in your submission, include in the body of the email that you are a member of NMG—and "CC" us at firstname.lastname@example.org!
The deadline for submission is August 25—so share your voice! As the IDG Summit puts it:
October 11th is our day to celebrate and SPEAK OUT about what it means to be a girl. Leaders at the UN and other girls need to hear your story. Help us showcase the issues girls face and how powerful girls are. Submit your story and help make this year’s Girls Speak Out the best one yet!
