Do you know these women?
They're part of Hidden (or, at best, unfamiliar) Herstory.
On September 26, 2005, six women assigned to the US Air Force's 737th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron became the first all-female C-130 Hercules crew to fly in combat--transporting Marines and supplies in and out of Iraq and Afghanistan.
The C-130 is a massive, four-engine turboprop aircraft which can carry vehicles, tons of materials, and/or more than 150 people. Pilots like Lt. Col. Carol Mitchell know how to take off and land the plane on unprepared runways.
More than a decade after breaking this sky ceiling, a few members of the group reflected on their experience.
