Why I chose to go vegan :)

Hi wonderful people :) !

This is a board about  our meat and animal production and consumption.

I have been a  vegitarian for a long time, but I figured it really makes sense to go all the way and be vegan (vegitarian means not eating meat and vegan means not eating any animal products, so for example no eggs, milk, cheese).

Don't get me wrong, being a vegitarian is great and also a good start, if you want to become vegan.

But what I'm trying to say, being a vegitarian doesn't mean not killing animals with the way you eat for example (for organic food it's a little different, but still not perfect).

If you drink milk or eat eggs, you're probably getting them from companies that slaughter baby calves and male chicks because that is cheaper than raising animals that can't produce milk and eggs when they grow up.

Please look it up, because it's really terrible and you may not want to support all of this.

For me the best option was to drasticlly go vegan also, and being vegan is not unhealthy ! You can get the protein and carbs and basically everything you need from other food, too, it's really not that hard. If you want tips and tricks (or recipes) on how to do that - let me know!

Hope this was interesting to you :)

  • Also, are you maybe already vegan or vegetarian or maybe gluten free ? I would be interested in your experience with that!
  • ( I'm sorry if this text sounds commanding in any way it's not meant like that of course everyone should eat how they like :)

  • I've never had meat. Ever. And I don't want to. For animals, my sister and I are both considering veganism. We are a family that LOVES dairy products - cheese, milk, yogurt, you name it. Heck, we *make* yogurt sometimes! I'm also allergic to nuts, so it'll narrow down my vegan alternatives. There are things like cashew cheeses or other nut alternatives (but I'm fine with almonds so all clear on almond milk) which just complicates things. Of course there are ways to be vegan and nut free I just haven't had time to explore them.
  • I'm half vegetarian. I barely like meat, but sometimes I have to eat it because I'm an athlete and I need protein
    • There are tons of other protein sources! I've never had meat in my life, so my family and I have needed to find lots of other sources, particularly because I'm also allergic to nuts. I can help if you want any advice.
  • I am vegetarian too!!!!!!!!!!
  • I like meat but only to add flavor to stuff. My family will get meat a5 a restaurant to share all around and I don’t want any because I don’t like straight meat or lots of meat.
  • I don't think I would be able to go vegan, or even vegetarian. We eat sooo much meat and dairy in my family.
  • I’m vegan too! How long have you been vegan for?
  • I am not vegan or vegetarian, but I do not drink milk and when my family gets meat, eggs, or milk, we get it from a place that does not hurt animals.

How to Talk to Your Crush

What should I do? -Anonymous Your not alone anon, that’s a fear everyone has when they have crush- and it makes sense! Your admiting your personal feelings to another person, being scared of rejection is completely understandable. First of all, if you’re not already friends with this person, try becoming…

Sleeping Over at a Friend's House

When I get invited to sleepover parties, I always end up wanting to go home before bed. Now that I am a rising 8th grader, I am starting to worry that my friends may find it babyish that I can't spend the night. Any advice? -Anonymous      I’ve had experience with this same problem before! When I used to often have sleepovers with my friends, I’d nearly always call my mom to pick me up when it came time to go to sleep. Eventually, I did start to worry that my friends would look down on me…

Preparing For Your Period

“I feel very unprepared about getting my first period. I don’t know exactly what happens and I am really worried about getting it at school. I wouldn’t want to talk to anyone about it and I don’t feel comfortable talking to my mom about it ahead of time either. Would I be able to just use a wad of toilet paper instead of a pad for a day until I get home and can ask my mom for one? Where would I keep pads after I did get my period if I had it at school? I just feel uninformed and unprepared and…
