  • No, I don’t think so. For me, it comes down to the breaks.
I am aware that there would be more breaks throughout the year, but for me, that simply wouldn’t work. Summer vacation is really the only time that I can see family members who live far away, because the other breaks are too short to go traveling. Summer vacation is also a break that I look forward to because of how long it is. To me, and many other people in my school, summer vacation is appealing because of its length. For us, it is also the only time we don’t have homework. No matter how many more breaks we would get, we would never have a break from homework, because the breaks would be short enough that there would be more school in the near future. While I am certain that year round school works for many people, I can not see myself being happy in an environment that has no true ‘break’ from school.
    • Yeah. It's relaxing to know that you won't have to go to school for a long time.
  • If you had year round school it could be like homeschooling/unschooling and you would be able to take brakes and get up kinda late and stuff like that instead of getting up early and having school for a certain amount of time and having lunch at a specific time and everything.
  • This is the thing I wrote about for school, if anyone wants to check it out.
    Year round schools?
Most everyone can agree that they want schools to be able to give students the chance to learn the skills that they need to have a successful adultho…
  • I don't think that year around school is a good idea. One of the only things that gets me through school is knowing summer is coming up and I get a break. Without that a lot of kids would be miserable. School would have no end and it would just add to the stress.
    • a misconception that people make about year round schools is that they have less break time, but in reality you go for the same amount of days, but you have your summer break time spaced about throughout the year. There is still summer break in year round school, but for a shorter time period. I have personally never gone to a year round school, but I think that year round schools would decrease stress levels among students instead of increasing it.
      • ^^^^^^^^^^

    • In year-round school, there would be *more frequent breaks*, it wouldn't be just school every day (that would be awful xD). People wouldn’t forget everything in the long summer stretch, and would have more time to themselves.

Dealing with Scary Thoughts

Okay i am feeling a bit scared about Dying I never really thought about till my eleventh birthday And i really need some advice – Anonymous      This is a really big, serious topic, but I want to try to tackle it because I know I would have appreciated it when I was younger. As a younger child, I’d sometimes have trouble falling asleep, and with all that empty time for my mind to wander, I always found it drifting towards death. Before I give any advice, I just want to say that I’m really…

Sleeping Over at a Friend's House

When I get invited to sleepover parties, I always end up wanting to go home before bed. Now that I am a rising 8th grader, I am starting to worry that my friends may find it babyish that I can't spend the night. Any advice? -Anonymous      I’ve had experience with this same problem before! When I used to often have sleepovers with my friends, I’d nearly always call my mom to pick me up when it came time to go to sleep.
